Cyber Attack Quiets Planet Drum Website: Delays Olympics Environmental Action Article by Martin Lee

The web provider 1PlanHost.com reported a cyber attack on their servers Saturday, February 2, 2002. Although 90% of the Tennessee-based web service customers were not affected, the server on which the Planet Drum Foundation web is located was one that was left disabled for nearly five days. During this critical period, an updated report from Martin A. Lee on the environmental consequences of the upcoming Olympics was published in the Sunday Los Angeles Times.

We are reprinting Marty's article as one in the continuing series of reports and dispatches from and about the Guard Fox Watch actions at the past two winter Olympics.

Update on Cyber Attack: (6 Feb) We have lost several key articles from the website and will be working to salvage documents that we published in the past several months that the web provider's backup system failed to restore. Please check the News page for updates.
[Updates in October, November, and December 2001 were lost on Feb. 2, 2002 with the cyber attack at 1PlanHost.com. We will repost these documents with notice here in the News page.]
